Art in photography was already present with the 1st selfie made in 1839 by Robert Cornelius (1809 – 1893).
Birth of an international artistic movement
A little bit of history… photography was invented in 1826 by Nicephore Niepce, but did you know that Pictorial Art was born in 1885? It was in 1886 that Henry Emerson wrote an article: « Photography: a pictorial Art » so that photography be considered part of the Arts.
The French named the new movement Pictorialism. This is an international movement that pays tribute to artistic photography.
Therefore, the Pictorialists are more interested in aesthetic effects that the photographic act.
Signs of Picture Time
It is a cultural phenomenon that allows us to travel while remaining static. Color and texture as observed by visual semiotics. The semiotics of communication translates the world of signs.
A nice heritage to be preserved for future generations and especially digital natives (millenials). Design and creativity is multiplied in order to get inspiral images.
The image represents the universal language and “Every picture tells a story!”.
